Welcome to the Fourth Trimester!
Your baby is finally here and with them begins a tender season of healing, adjusting, and bonding. For many Northwood mums, these early weeks can feel overwhelming. But you're not alone!
Whether you're feeling the physical effects of feeding, carrying, or recovering from birth, some families choose to explore gentle chiropractic care as a way to support comfort and wellbeing during this time.
👶 Baby’s First Month: A Big Adjustment: In these early weeks, your baby is adapting to a brand new world. Their developing nervous system is adjusting to light, sound, feeding, and movement.
💛 Common Early Milestones:
Briefly lifting their head during tummy time
Making eye contact or recognising familiar faces
Strong grasp reflex
⚠️ When to Seek Guidance:Some parents choose to seek professional advice if they notice:
Baby favouring one side of the head (e.g., when lying or feeding)
Clicking or difficulty during feeding (breast or bottle)
Unsettled sleep, frequent crying, or back arching
Early rolling (a sign of tension)
A little tip if you are concerned is to check back through your photos to see if your baby is always facing one way.
🤱 Mama’s Recovery: Rebuilding Inside and Out Whether you gave birth vaginally or via C-section, your body has done something incredible. And congratulation! You did it, you grow a little human for 9 months and brought them into this world! Now, it’s time to support recovery - physically and emotionally.
💛 You Might Be Feeling:
Post-birth soreness or C-section sensitivity
Emotional highs and lows (including baby blues)
Fatigue and interrupted sleep
⚠️ When to Check In:
Ongoing pelvic or lower back discomfort
Neck or upper back tension from feeding posture
Tingling in arms or frequent headaches
Always consult your GP or midwife if you’re experiencing any ongoing symptoms. Some mothers choose to complement their care with chiropractic support to help ease muscular tension and improve posture during recovery.
