👶 Month 6: Sitting Up to the World - How’s Mama Holding Up?

At six months, your baby is becoming more expressive, mobile, and curious about the world. It's a joyful phase - filled with big developmental leaps and new physical demands for both of you.

As your little one begins to sit, roll, and explore, many mums notice their own bodies asking for a bit more support - especially in the shoulders, back, or core. That’s completely normal during this ongoing postpartum phase.

At our Northwood clinic, we offer gentle, family-focused chiropractic care aimed at supporting your comfort, alignment, and day-to-day function as you care for your growing baby.

👶 Baby’s Month 6 Movements

At this stage, babies often begin to:

  • Sit up with little support

  • Roll more confidently

  • Babble or respond to familiar sounds

These milestones can be exciting and sometimes a little unpredictable. As your baby becomes more mobile, you might notice differences in how they move or prefer one side over the other.

💛 Common Signs Parents Mention:

  • Favouring one side when rolling or sitting

  • Seeming unsettled during tummy time

  • Uneven posture or movement

While these aren’t necessarily causes for concern, they’re sometimes reasons parents seek gentle assessments to support comfort and ease as their baby develops.

🤱 Mama’s 6-Month Body Check-In

Six months into motherhood, you’ve likely been lifting, feeding, and carrying your baby daily. While some things may feel easier, many mums still experience:

  • Tension in the shoulders or wrists

  • Core fatigue or uneven strength

  • Discomfort in the back or pelvis

You’re not doing anything wrong. Your body is adapting, and it’s okay to seek support as those physical demands continue.

🩺 What We Look At During a Postnatal Visit

Every body and birth is different - but at this stage, we often assess:

  • General alignment and postural patterns

  • Movement around the pelvis and lower back

  • Breathing mechanics and core engagement

  • Everyday strain from feeding or carrying

  • Nervous system stress

Our approach is gentle and tailored to how you’re feeling now - not how you “should” feel.

🌿 Encouraging Comfort & Confidence

Many mums tell us they simply want to feel more at ease - in their body and in their day. While chiropractic care isn’t a medical treatment, some families find it a helpful part of their wider postnatal recovery plan.

We’re here to support you with respectful, hands-on care that’s focused on movement, balance, and comfort for both you and baby.

📅 Thinking of Booking a Visit?Whether you’re feeling great or just a little “off,” a wellness check-in can offer reassurance and personalised support.

With care,
